SE introduced to the Yr7,8 &9 curriculum package
Introduce pupils to the concepts of leader, official, referee, team manager, coach and assistant coach within PE lessons
Pupils work in teams throughout the units, helping each other to adopt different roles
Self and peer assessment strategies used to evaluate activities with targeted support from members of staff
Different sports each year used as the vehicle for Sport Ed. to avoid repetition
The national curriculum supports the use of SE. In the Programme of Study, under Curriculum Opportunities it states that ‘the curriculum should provide opportunities for pupils to specialise in specific activities and roles.’
A programme of leadership training (6-10 hrs) for young people between the ages of 9 and 13 that promotes them working with younger children, teaching leadership skills through a range of games and activities. Predominantly school based

Step into Sport Volunteer Passport
|
Leadership skills taught through the medium of sport accrediting students with the nationally recognised SLUK Level 1 Award. The school will need to be an Approved Assessment Centre, with a trained Tutor Assessor delivering the course. All students need to be registered onto a course using the SLUK Log books
SL tuition delivered through Core PE, or otherwise as an OSHL activity. SLs commit to attending over 85% of all SL tuition and reaching 30hrs of school/local community voluntary leadership experience. Voluntary leadership hours tracked through leadership diaries and high visibility tracking sheets

Sports Leaders/Dance Leaders profile raised throughout the school with the use of Sports Leader notice boards, school newsletters, Sports Leader badges, easily recognisable Sports Leader T-shirts etc.
The Step Into Sport Volunteer Passport is a dedicated website to allow volunteers to quickly register all their volunteering hours, check on their progress and see up and coming events.
The site also allows Volunteer Coordinators to instantly validate volunteer's work and keep in touch with local schools, and allows School Mentors and County Sport Partnerships to cut-out the paperwork, complete management tools for volunteers and placements.

The qualification will take a minimum of 35 Guided Learning Hours.
It requires a minimum 10 hours of leadership to be completed by the candidate away from the centre, in the local community, plus a further 10 hours to be completed within the SSP

The Youth Sport Trust rewards candidates commitment to volunteering by awarding them with nationally recognised certificates for the hours they complete
Youth Sport Trust - BRONZE AWARD - 50 hours
Youth Sport Trust - SILVER AWARD - 100 hours
Youth Sport Trust - GOLD AWARD - 200 hours
To guide candidates towards NGB awards so that their achievements can be nationally recognised
